Spring Engagement Session Outfit Tips

A breakdown of some of our favorite outfit tips for your engagement session. Spring engagement session in rural Utah.

Erin & Levi wanted a location that showed off some of the unique beauty that Utah has to offer, without being in the middle of all the busy-ness. We love when clients request locations that other photographers aren’t using. What really made this session special was Erin & Levi’s perfect outfits!

Engagement session outfit tips are always some of our most requested tips, so let’s do a little breakdown of what makes these outfits so great! These outfits were dressy and casual. A post on formal engagement session outfit tips is coming soon. 🙂

These two chose outfits that complimented the landscape (and each other). Remember, we always suggest planning outfits that coordinate, but do not match.

The Casual Outfit: Choosing both partners to be in pants is never a bad thing, as long as the pants are contrasting. In this case, the light denim with white pants looks amazing, and draws a clear differentiation between Erin and Levi. What I love the most is how the tops compliment each other (soft neutrals), but also the background. The soft tans and greens are classic! Remember ladies, if you’re choosing to wear a top and pants, we typically suggest choosing either a full tuck or a French tuck, so that your figure still shows!

The Dressy Outfit: Most of our couples choose to do a dressy outfit, because it looks so classy for invitations and prints. Erin & Levi balanced the line of dressy and casual really well with this blended outfit. The soft blue linen of Levi’s shirt is our favorite and most recommended texture to wear for portraits, and the pastels of his outfit allowed Erin’s pink to pop without being distracting or confusing.

We loved this outfit set, and highly recommend following the complimentary outfit rule for both dressy and casual outfits!
